Hello this is, and I am, Stuart Packer
Hello you. It all got underway when I was cast as the Drunken Sailor in the song, What Shall We Do With the Drunken Sailor? I was 7. People laughed. The bug bit me again when I was 15. Somehow I had failed my English Lit O Level mocks. My (ahem) lovely teachers said I still had to attend lessons. Boo. This was when I didn't have to analyse this 'rubbish'. I was 15 remember. My (ahem) lovely teachers made/let me read all the fun parts in the numerous plays. Hooray. I was hooked.
I did nothing about it until I was 25...
...when I went off to Drama School in Guildford. An amazing time with too many brilliant stories to fill up space here. Suffice to say, my 26th birthday was spent singing in the morning and dancing in the afternoon.
Since leaving nearly 18 years ago I have been cast as many varied people. Including several guy-next-door types I have also been Houdini, Lord Arthur, several ranks of Police Officer, an American WWII Lt General, a top RAF Fighter Pilot, various ne'er do wells, some Dads, a caveman, Submarine Captain, a Tank Commander, Peter Sutcliffe, and a porn Producer.
Click the Back bit for some press cuttings.
These roles have been on Stage, the Big Screen, the Telly, Radio and now the Internet. If pushed, I would say that Radio, Theatre and Film are my favourites. To be honest, I live and act for the moment. To be asked to become someone else, work at character, dress-up then put it in front of people, in any medium, still gives me the most phenomenal thrill.
Anything else? Yes, I run The Art of Directing Actors - empowering and inspiring Directors for screen for life. For more info please email: TheArtOfDirectingActors~at~rocketmail.com
